Ralph Speer Co

OUR STORY

A NAME WITH A STANDARD BEHIND IT

Ralph Speer is named for the Speer Hardware Company, established in 1887. The historic building represented in our mark belonged to a different kind of trade, but its standard remains relevant: honest work, material integrity, and objects made with purpose.

Today, Ralph Speer makes furniture for interior designers, architects, and design firms specifying residential and light commercial projects. We work in solid American hardwood throughout. No veneer over particleboard. No structural MDF. The wood is selected, shaped, and finished to show its natural grain rather than conceal it.

The furniture is made to order in the United States. Established designs can be specified through the trade program, while true custom dimensions can be developed in partnership with our Trade Concierge and craftsmen. For tables, The Table Curator gives designers a direct way to select the details that serve the project, create client-ready quotes, set their preferred margin, and access 3D files for planning.

Ralph Speer is reserved for approved design professionals. This is not exclusivity as a posture. It is the structure of the program: a resource built to give designers clear specifications, useful tools, and a material story they can confidently carry into a client presentation.

Real materials, honest construction, no shortcuts.

That approach is not nostalgia. Furniture built this way is furniture that can be kept, used, and passed on - and a piece that survives three owners was worth making once. It is the only argument we make for how we work, and the reason we still make it by hand.

OUR STANDARDS

Solid American Hardwood

Every Ralph Speer piece is made from 100% solid American hardwood throughout. The material can be repaired, refinished, and kept in service over time.

Natural Variation, Stated Plainly

Wood carries variation in grain, color, and figure. No two pieces will be identical. We treat that variation as an expected characteristic of the material and name it before the furniture reaches the project.

Made to Order

Furniture is made to order for the project. Designers can specify from established options or work with our Trade Concierge and craftsmen when a project requires true custom dimensions.

Built for Specification

Dimensions, product information, 3D files, pricing tools, and project-ready quoting are designed to make the specification process more direct.

Reserved for the Trade

Ralph Speer is available only to approved design professionals. We do not sell directly to the public or compete with the designers who specify our furniture.

Made in the United States

Ralph Speer furniture is made in the U.S.A. using solid American hardwood. We build 100% of our tables and work with American manufacturing partners to provide chairs and beds. Honest work. Never imported.
